In order to play the game, there are only a few things which must be done before
a turn is ready for processing. These are summarized below...
(1) Purchase Items (see
Marketplace)
You are able to purchase ships (Mariner), potions (Environment), followers (Leadership),
armaments (Combat), poisons (Stealth), scrolls (Sorcery), Gems (Psionics), and miscellaneous
items between
turns. Note that just because you can purchase the item does not mean you are able
to use it. You must have the appropriate knowledge level and minimum attribute requirement for that. Verify the statistics
prior to purchasing the item or you may have to try and sell the item away.
(2) Activate Abilities (see
Available Abilities)
In this case "Abilities" include everything you can activate. This includes
skills and powers, but also armaments, hirelings and other items which you may have
in your inventory. Remember that your total level of activated abilities cannot
exceed your appropriate knowledge level. One-shot items are removed when used
in the previous turn, but other items and abilities will remain between turns.
(3) Submit Movements (see
RC Log)
There are 8 days of travel for you to make. Simply select which directions
you wish to move and the game will let you know where you will end up. Note that some terrain
squares may be off limits without special abilities or items. Also note that the
map changes between turns to reflect locations you may have encountered. Simply
passing through a terrain square reveals the location and all locations in
adjacent map squares.
(4) Respond to Events
Your actions during the turn can trigger events which need user input. This is done
after the turn has been processed. For example, you may have collected a treasure
chest which needs to be opened (and disarmed?) or perhaps you rec'd a message from
another player/dominion which needs attention. You may have received a manuscript
which needs translation or research. You do not have to open those chests or
research those manuscripts right away. They will be there until you wish to
deal with them even if it is delayed until after the game completes.
(5) Trade Items
After your turn has completed, you may be contacted by 3rd party guilds who wish
to sell items or abilities to you. These offers only last until the next turn, so
you must act on them right away or lose the chance. Trades from other players in
the
Open Market
remain until the trade is accepted or canceled by the originating player.
(6) Mock Other Players
Because hey, you rule, right?
Turn results can be found on the
RC Log
screen, as can the map showing the locations of yourself (RED) and every other
player in the game. The number on the map represents how many players are at that
location.
